Marketing your book

Marketing your book

Once your book has been published, the next step is letting people know it exists. How that happens varies enormously from one author to another, depending on the subject and audience. When you publish with us, your book remains entirely yours and you retain full ownership and royalties, which means decisions about promotion are always yours to make. While we don't run marketing campaigns or advise on strategy, we do help many authors prepare clear, professional materials that support the way they choose to promote their book.

Existing contacts and networks

For many authors, particularly in nonfiction, the most effective promotion starts with people they already know. Professional contacts, organisations, mailing lists, and specialist communities often represent a far more relevant audience than any general marketing activity. Authors commonly choose to make a one-off announcement or share a simple piece of information letting these contacts know the book is available. We regularly help authors design flyers, posters, and digital graphics that can be emailed, printed, or shared online, keeping everything visually consistent with the book itself.

Events and in-person promotion

Some books lend themselves naturally to launches, talks, conferences, or signings, particularly when they align with an existing interest group or subject area. These events don't need to be elaborate to be effective and often work best when they feel informal and relevant. Where authors plan to attend events, we can help prepare printed materials such as posters, cards, or display items, and ensure book files are ready for any direct sales they intend to make.

Online and social media use

Authors who already use social media or maintain a website may choose to promote their book online by sharing images, short announcements, or links to retailer listings. There is no single right way to do this, and the level of activity varies widely depending on comfort and available time. We can help by creating book promo images including flyers, social media graphics, and other digital assets that make it easier to present the book clearly and professionally online.

External PR and publicity services

Some authors choose to work with independent PR companies that specialise in book promotion. These services operate separately from Wordzworth and vary widely in cost, approach, and effectiveness. They tend to suit fiction or titles with a broad public audience more than specialist or niche nonfiction. Whether or not you use external publicity support, we're always happy to help ensure any promotional materials you need are well designed and aligned with the look and tone of your book.

Marketing a book isn't about following a fixed formula. It's about choosing approaches that suit your audience, your goals, and the amount of time and energy you want to invest. While we don't advise on marketing strategy, we're always happy to help you prepare the materials you need to present your book clearly and professionally, whatever route you decide to take.
